As part of the European Recycling Platform, ERP Spain is the only Pan European Extended Producer Responsibility organisation that operates in Spain. It was constituted in 2002 by four multinational companies (Braun, Electrolux, HP and Sony) in response to the first EU Directive on electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), and it is focused on the management of WEEE and waste of Batteries and Accumulators (WB&A), offering high quality solutions at the best price, which facilitates compliance with obligations for producers.

On a global scale, ERP offers WEEE, WB&A and packaging waste management services in 32 countries. In Spain, it has operated as an Extended Producer Responsibility organisation authorised for WEEE since 2005 and for WB&A since 2008.
